New Zealand started off the series with a bang, winning the first two twenty20 Internationals but national selector Dion Nash has warned the players.

He told the players to be careful against the Indians backfiring in the forthcoming ODI series.

“India are on top of their game. They are a genuinely good side at the moment. It is about momentum. Stopping the momentum of the Indian side and getting them to think twice is one of the goals of the Black Caps,” said Nash.

Fast bowler Ian Butler’s superb performance in the two twenty20 international game against the India has earned him a place in the upcoming ODI series starting from March 3.

Apart from Butler, Kyle Mills, who was out of the big games because of injury is finally being passed as fit for the upcoming ODI series. Mills will strengthen the pace attack of the kiwis led by Iain O’Brien, Butler and Tim Southee.

There was some crowd trouble during the second T20 between India and New Zealand. Crowd in New Zealand os generally well behaved,  but play was interrupted briefly twice during the final over of New Zealand’s chase when a plastic bottle thrown from the crowd landed near a fielder. Such incidents are generally associated with the sub-continent.

Ishant Sharma could miss the first ODI against New Zealand in Napier on March 3 because of a shoulder injury. Ishant hurt his shoulder in the fifth over of the New Zealand innings when he dived to his right from mid-on to stop a blistering straight drive from Jesse Ryder.

He bowled one more over after the fall before going off the field for treatment, and he did not complete his quota of 4 overs. He was seen sitting in the dugout with an ice pack on his shoulder.

Andrew Flintoff will miss the remainder of the Test series against West Indies because of a hip injury but is hoping to be fit for the limited-overs matches that follow. England will play a Twenty20 match and five one-dayers after the current Test series with West Indies.

The longer the muscle tear in his hip takes to heal, however, the more scrutiny will be placed on Flintoff’s lucrative deal with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, which runs for three weeks in April. ECB chairman Giles Clarke had already admitted he was not in favour of the all-rounder travelling to India. He is not alone though, many others feel playing in the IPL could further aggravate the injury and jeopardise England’s chances in this year’s Ashes.

IPL commissioner Lalit Modi urging the ECB to stay away from Andrew Flintoff and his participation in the T20 tournament.

South Africa would be ruing the missed oppurtunity, they had the Aussies on the mat twice at 38-3 and then at 182-5, but they allowed the Aussies to pile up 466 runs. Marcus North, a debutant, scored a century, Brad Haddin, the wicketkeeper, scored a half century and even Mitchell Johnson, a tailender, nearly helped himself to a maiden test century. When South Africans came out to bat the Austalians further strenghtened their position in the match by picking up three quick wickets.
