Dhoni, quite successful as a captain
Dhoni has won 7 out of 10 Tests as captain (three drawn) — winning % 70.00. Amongst the captains with 10 or more Tests as captain, he is only the second not to have lost a single Test match apart from recording seven or more Test wins.
Warwick Armstrong, Australian captain, had recorded eight wins out of 10 contested between December 17, 1920 and August 16, 1921.
The most successful captains with a winning % of 60.00 or more in Tests are (minimum 10 Tests):
| Captain | For | Tests | Won | Lost | Drawn | Tied | Win% |
| Warwick Armstrong | Aus | 10 | 8 | - | 2 | - | 80.00 |

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test (2009) Stats Day 1 – Kanpur
India closed on their highest total from a day’s play, surpassing their previous best of 386 for 1 against South Africa at Chennai in 2007-08.
Gautam Gambhir (167) scored his fourth hundred in consecutive matches. The sequence started with 137 against New Zealand at Napier (second innings), 167 v NZ at Wellington (second innings), 114 v SL at Ahmedabad (second innings) and 167 in this match.
The hundred was also Gambhir’s seventh in the last nine Tests.
Gambhir and Sehwag provided only the sixth instance of both Indian openers scoring a hundred in the same innings.
This is only the third time in India’s Test history when they posted four consecutive totals of 400 or more. Between October 1986 and February 1987 India had scored 400+ in six consecutive innings, which is a world record. Between August and October 2002, India had another sequence of four consecutive scores of 400 (or more).
Importance of Sachin in ODIs
The following is the list of centuries scored by Indians in ODI’s. Sachin has 4 in total, 3 of them came in finals. Also remember that he didnt play too many ODIs in this perios because of injuries or he wanted rest. Raina’s hunderds have come against Hong Kong and Bangladesh! Others have scored hundreds but not in finals. This list also highlights the importance of Yuvraj and Sehwag, but more importantly it shows that Sachin might be old and he might not be as good as he was but he is still better than the rest.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Stats – Final ICC World Twenty20 (2009)
The final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2009 is here and here we analyse their performance in the tournament so far. Sri Lanka have won all the six matches in the tournament and just need one more victory to equal the record of South Africa. Pakistan lost 2 matches in the tournament and then gained their momentum back. Well all this will not make much difference as every game is a new day and how the perform on the D-Day is what all matters now.
Overall Perfromance
The overall performance of both the teams is quite impressive. Sri Lankan have proved their batting performance is really strong but Pakistan is alo not far behind. According to the batting stats Sri Lanka are the fovorites with higher average and run rate but its quite difficult to choose from their bowling performance. Sri Lanka has taken 50-wicket in the tournament, the highest uptil now and Pakistan is the second best with 46-wickets in the tournament.
| Team | Bat average | Run rate | Bowl average | Econ rate | Diff in ave | Diff in R rate |
| Pakistan | 25.02 | 7.51 | 17.15 | 6.80 | 7.87 | 0.71 |
| Sri Lanka | 27.48 | 8.08 | 16.26 | 7.09 | 11.22 | 0.99 |
First Six Overs
Sri Lanka for sure is the best performer in the first six overs, thanks to Tilekeratne Dilshan who played superb innings right from the top and strengthen the Sri Lankan team. Dilshan has scored 317 runs in the tournament off which 156 runs came of the first six overs. He has only been dismissed once in the first six overs. Dilshan has scored 25 Fours in the 90 balls he has faced on the power plays. Pakistan will be having very tough time to stop Dilshan from hammering their bowlers.
Pakistan on other hand are quite slow in their first six overs and lost some quick wickets as well. Pakistan always gain momentum on the final overs of the match because of their first six overs average is quite low comparing to the Sri Lankan Team.
| Team | Bat average | Run rate | Bowl average | Econ rate | Diff in ave | Diff in r rate |
| Pakistan | 24.18 | 7.38 | 34.87 | 7.75 | -10.69 | -0.37 |
| Sri Lanka | 63.20 | 8.77 | 23.72 | 7.25 | 39.48 | 1.52 |
Middle Over (7-14)
Pakistan pace up their innings in the middle overs and their bowlers also have performed really well in these overs. Pakistan has taken 18 wickets in the middle over against the Sri Lanka which took 15-wickets.
| Team | Bat average | Run rate | Bowl average | Econ rate | Diff in ave | Diff in r rate |
| Pakistan | 38.44 | 7.33 | 16.33 | 6.12 | 22.11 | 1.21 |
| Sri Lanka | 27.75 | 6.93 | 19.26 | 6.02 | 8.49 | 0.91 |
