A glorious moment from Indian test history, Border-Gavaskar trophy, 2001. India vs Australia. Australia had made a record of consicutive 16 Test wins including the 1st Test win at Mumbai and were leading the 3 match series by 1-0 when they came to eden gardens for the 2nd Test. In the 1st innings Aussies made a marvolous 445 and got India out for 171 and made India to follow on, and boy what a response from India. Aussies underestimated the Indians, a storm called VVS laxman (Very Very Special Laxman) made 281 with good support from Rahul Dravid who scored 180 as India notched up 657, their 2nd highest total in test cricket ever. Aussies were set a target of 384 to win match and India had less than 1 day to bowl them out and make history. But surely that was India’s day, they got Aussies out on 212 with superb bowling by Bhajji and Sachin and they become third ever team in history of the cricket to win a test match after being forced to follow on
Hats off to Dada and his team!
