On day 3 the last wicket stand has tilted the game India’s way. Sree and Bhajji came together when the lead was just 17 and they have extended it to 86 by put on an unbeaten 69-run stand for the last wicket. This also is the best 10th wicket stand for India against New Zealand ever. It was an absorbing day of test match cricket with the Kiwis never letting the Indians off the hook till Bhajji took control and played some audacious strokes. The Sardar from Jalandhar looked in ominous form, punishing the bowlers to all parts of the park and also notching up his third half-century on the trot.
The last hour has seen the Kiwis looking a little flat on the field. Laxman played beautifully and made an attractive 74. The skipper Daniel Vettori was the stand out performer with the ball for the visitors claiming a four-for and the other bowlers also lent a useful support. But what happened in the last session might have dented their confidence. The first session today will be very interesting as Harbhajan is just 15 short of his second Test ton and India would also hope that they stretch the lead beyond the 100-run mark and even more, if possible.
